Mercer Island, Liberty, Inglemoor face off in 24-minute playoff decider
Three 3A KingCo football teams tied at 5-1 will determine their postseason futures in a modified Kansas tiebreaker at Issaquah High School.

Mercer Island, Liberty, and Inglemoor will settle their 5-1 league tie in a 24-minute Kansas tiebreaker on Tuesday, October 27, at Issaquah High School.
The three 3A KingCo Crest division teams are tied after Liberty lost 10-3 to Inglemoor on Friday, October 24. The result leaves two playoff spots undecided among the trio.
The format modifies standard high school rules. Teams play two 12-minute quarters. The winner advances immediately to the postseason. The loser waits a 20-minute intermission before facing the third team in a win-or-go-home matchup.
Season-start draws determined the order of play. Mercer Island, drawn as No. 3, hosts Liberty, drawn as No. 6, at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that first game secures the division title and will face Bellevue in the Week 9 KingCo championship.
The loser of the 7:00 p.m. game will play Inglemoor in the final tiebreaker slot. If either 24-minute game ends in a tie, the teams will go to overtime under standard high school rules, with alternating possessions at the 25-yard line.
The winner of the final matchup advances to the playoffs. The loser exits the postseason race.
