Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed on Monday that the team will retain offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and quarterback Tanner McKee, despite the offense ranking last in the NFL.
The Eagles sit at 2-6 in the NFC East and are averaging 17.1 points per game, which places them 30th in the league. On Sunday night, the team scored the first 10 points of its contest against Washington but failed to add any more over the final three quarters, resulting in a 27-10 defeat. The offense managed just 3.9 yards per play in that game.
Mannion, 34, assumed the play-calling role after playing in the NFL as recently as 2023. He had only two prior years of coaching experience before taking the position. Sirianni stated that the coaching staff is responsible for finding solutions to the current offensive struggles.
“I’m not making any changes there,” Sirianni said regarding Mannion. “It is on all of us to figure out how to get things going in the right direction. Obviously, right now they’re not. But again, this is the ultimate team game and we’re in the problem-solving business. Right now, we have to find answers to help us get going offensively. Again, that brunt falls on myself, that falls on Sean, and we’re going to do everything we can to get ourselves out of this.”
McKee has started the last three games after Jalen Hurts was sidelined with blood clots. Hurts last played against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on October 11. In his three starts, McKee has completed 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. The offense has scored 45 total points in those contests.
Sirianni emphasized that McKee remains the team’s primary signal caller. “Tanner’s our guy. We’re not making any changes there,” Sirianni said. “Again, how do we find solutions? That could be within scheme, that could be within how our schedule is, practice plays. Everything’s on the table for us in that aspect. But right now, this is where we are and we’re trying to find solutions there. We’re looking at everything as far as what we can do differently as coaches.”
Joe Milton currently serves as McKee’s backup, a role he filled behind Dak Prescott in Dallas during 2025.
