Joe Milton III will start at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday against the New York Giants. The change ends a three-game run for Tanner McKee, who has lost every start since taking over for Jalen Hurts.

McKee began playing after Hurts was placed on injured reserve due to blood clots. Under McKee, the Eagles dropped six straight games. Their record fell to 2-6 following a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders earlier this week.

Head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters after the Commanders game that McKee was the team's guy. That statement came before the decision to bench him was finalized. The Eagles now turn to a player with no regular-season playing time in the current roster.

Milton was signed off the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in October. He originally entered the league as a sixth-round pick for the New England Patriots. The Eagles are looking to his arm strength and mobility to jump-start an offense that has stalled.

The Giants game is the final contest before Philadelphia enters its Week 10 bye. The schedule shift gives the coaching staff a short break to evaluate the new starter's fit.

The Eagles will take the field in New York with a new signal caller. Milton will face a Giants defense that has not faced him in a live regular-season setting.
