Salvador Zerboni left the Telemundo reality series Juego de Villanos on Wednesday, marking the end of his stint in the program. He became the fourth contestant to exit the show, following Yina Calderón, Sandra Itzel, and Álex Ghita.
Zerboni discussed his departure with the portal Hoy Día. He noted that previous housemates described him as one of the strongest competitors. However, he believes his earlier experience in Top Chef changed his approach to the game. He said this prior work softened his heart, a shift he believes cost him the victory.
"I think I am a villain with a heart and that is what played against me," Zerboni said. He acknowledged that many opponents did not want him in the villa. He accepted that his softer demeanor altered the dynamic of the competition.
The actor pointed to a specific betrayal by Sergio Mayer. Zerboni stated that Mayer is the only resident he considers truly evil. He recounted accepting an off-air phone call from Mayer to form an alliance. Zerboni said he trusted the other man, a decision that proved costly.
"I never expected that betrayal," Zerboni told the outlet. He explained that while lying and cheating were permitted among villains, the specific way Mayer handled their agreement surprised him. He expressed regret for trusting the actor and the high price he paid for it.
Zerboni concluded his interview by noting that a few bad actors remained in the villa. He left the show with a clear view of the alliances and tensions that defined his time there.
