A Nooksack couple went to jail on Wednesday after a four day search for a stolen car ended with their arrest. David Jackson, 57, and Blanca Jackson, 58, were booked into the Whatcom County Jail without incident. They face charges of first degree robbery, second degree assault, and theft of a motor vehicle.
The incident began on Thursday, October 22, when deputies responded to the 4900 block of Aldrich Road. They received a report of a motor vehicle theft involving an assault. The victim had arranged to meet a man at a Meridian Street retail store to inspect a car they were selling.
During the test drive, the man stopped the vehicle and ordered the victim to get out. He then punched the victim in the head and continued striking them. A second vehicle pulled up, and the woman inside began hitting and kicking the victim. The victim stated that one of the suspects placed their hands around the victim’s throat to restrict their airway.
The man drove off in the victim’s vehicle, while the woman left in her own car. Deputies later identified the Jacksons as the suspects. They found a vehicle matching the description of the one leaving the scene in the Jacksons’ driveway. Probable cause supported the arrests for the violent takeover of the car.
The victim met the initial suspect at the Meridian Street location to discuss the sale. The physical altercation followed immediately after the vehicle was pulled over. The couple was taken into custody two days after the initial report was filed on Aldrich Road.
