The United States will host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11. US envoy Steve Witkoff announced the schedule on Monday. The session aims to resolve the ongoing conflict that has dominated European security since 2022.
Witkoff stated that the agenda includes post-war security agreements, de-escalation measures, and humanitarian aid. He also listed ending the war as a primary goal. Jared Kushner will join Witkoff as a lead negotiator for the US delegation, according to a senior official.
Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to the trilateral meeting after a private discussion with Witkoff in St Petersburg two weeks ago. This engagement marks a new push by Washington to mediate the conflict. The previous US-facilitated talks occurred in February, prior to the war between the United States and Israel and Iran.
American negotiators are currently in Brussels for working-level sessions this week. They are meeting with representatives from France, Germany, Britain, the European Union, and NATO. The focus is on Ukraine’s security guarantees and the economic support needed for its reconstruction.
A senior US official described these meetings as part of President Trump’s continued effort to reach a lasting peace agreement. Despite these diplomatic pushes, Kyiv and Moscow remain far apart on the terms of any final deal. Trump has recently increased pressure on Ukraine to accept a settlement before winter conditions worsen.
